Verified Emission Reduction (VER)

Verified Emission Reductions (VERs), also known as Voluntary Emission Reductions, are Carbon Credits generated by climate projects that voluntarily reduce, avoid, or remove greenhouse gas emissions. These credits are not regulated by international treaties but are verified by independent third-party auditors and registered with standards such as the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), Gold Standard, or American Carbon Registry (ACR). VERs are typically used by companies and individuals who want to contribute to climate action voluntarily. Each VER represents one metric ton of CO2 equivalent reduced.
