Munich, 24th January 2024 - Munich-based climate tech start-up OCELL has appointed Jaron Pazi as Chief Commercial Officer. OCELL develops a technology to set up measurable and transparent climate protection projects. Companies that want to take over ecological responsibility can invest in these projects. In the newly created role of Chief Commercial Officer, Pazi is responsible for all carbon sales and marketing activities and will further develop the business.
Jaron Pazi has many years of experience in the areas of corporate social responsibility, climate protection and business development. Most recently, as Managing Director DACH, he built up the German business of Treedom, a platform which enables companies and individuals to plant trees. Prior to this, he was Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at car rental company SIXT, where he was responsible for all CSR activities.
David Dohmen, Co-CEO and Co-Founder of OCELL: "Jaron has the ideal qualifications for the role as he knows our business from both sides - from the perspective of project developers and from the perspective of companies that want to invest in meaningful climate protection projects with measurable impact. Under his leadership, we will significantly expand the sale of carbon credits to finance local forest projects this year. I am delighted to welcome him to the team."
Jaron Pazi, Chief Commercial Officer at OCELL: "We cannot achieve the net zero targets by 2050 without the active involvement of business. This requires not only the drastic reduction of CO2 emissions, but also a serious commitment from businesses to support the removal of CO2 from the atmosphere. OCELL's data-driven climate protection projects aim to increase long-term carbon storage in local forest projects and strengthen local biodiversity. This enables companies to invest in effective, transparent and local climate protection projects. I am therefore very pleased to support the OCELL team in its important mission."
With its Dynamic Forest software, OCELL is already helping forestry operations in eleven countries and on over 500,000 hectares of land to manage their forests sustainably. At the same time, these forests offer potential for the climate protection projects developed by OCELL. In order to set these up reliably and transparently, OCELL processes aerial photographs and other data to create "digital twins" of the forests using artificial intelligence. These provide information on forest growth, current carbon storage capacity and other metrics and can predict optimal forest management in order to store more carbon in the forests in the long term.
About OCELL:
OCELL is a Munich-based climate-tech startup that develops local climate projects that are transparent, measurable and effective. Our mission is to unlock the full potential of forests and make a significant contribution to climate mitigation. To achieve this, we use aerial photographs, data from various sources, and artificial intelligence to create ‘digital twins’ of forests. These provide valuable insights into forest growth, current carbon storage capacity, and other metrics, and enable us to predict optimal forest management strategies to store more carbon. With our state-of-the-art technology and unwavering commitment to data transparency, we ensure the effectiveness of our solutions. Currently, OCELL manages 500,000 hectares of sustainable forest land in eleven countries.
